Joseph H. Carter of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, a retired carpenter, died Friday at Bostonian Nursing Care Center in Boston. He was 98.
The youngest of 12 children, Mr. Carter was born and raised in Canada. He moved to the United States 65 years ago and had lived in Quincy for the past 35 years.
Prior to coming to Massachusetts, Mr. Carter was a logger and a chef at his own restaurant in Jackman, Maine.
In Massachusetts, he worked for the Pile Drivers Union as a carpenter for more than 30 years until he retired in 1975. He worked as a carpenter on projects including the Callahan Tunnel, the ...
