Mar. 10--OKALOOSA ISLAND -- Lifeguards are back on the beach and met their friends in the sky Friday at the Emerald Coast Conference Center.
Okaloosa County lifeguards got a chance to look at both AirHeart and GULFlight helicopters and talk with the crews who fly the emergency air ambulances. Starting this year, the two forces will work together to improve response when tragedy strikes at the beach. Air support can be called out to help find swimmers and then radio what they see to rescuers on the ground. Also, pre-designated landing zones will help rescuers get patients to the helicopters faster. For example, ...
