A new study from England finds that uterine artery embolization enables significantly faster recovery than standard surgical methods for the treatment of uterine fibroids. Uterine artery embolization was introduced in 1995 as an alternative technique for treating fibroids. The procedure involves cutting off the blood supply to the fibroid by injecting sand-like particles into the uterine artery under x-ray guidance.
