Mar. 10--Society often assigns the moniker "deadbeat dad" to fathers who don't pay child support.
In Texas, however, about 7 percent of people ordered to pay child support are women, according to the Texas Attorney General's office.
And, like male child support providers, the female providers don't always pay, said Southeast Texans familiar with family law cases.
In December, when the attorney general's office released its list of "Top 10 Most Wanted Child Support Evaders," they were all men. But that's not always the case, said spokeswoman Janece Rolfe.
