TOKYO, March 12 Asia Pulse - Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd. is bolstering supplies of key components to Caterpillar Inc. as part of its effort to strengthen ties with the U.S. construction machinery giant.
Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi, a 50-50 joint venture of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (TSE:7011) and the Caterpillar group, is investing 2.2 billion yen (US$18.71 million) at its plant in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, to increase production volume of hydraulic equipment to 100,000 units a year in fiscal 2008, a 40 per cent jump from fiscal 2005.
