The future threat to national security from land-attack cruise missiles will be as great as that from ballistic missiles and be more difficult to control, suggests a new study by the American Institute for Strategic Cooperation, a think-tank.
Although much of the current concern over cruise missile proliferation involves the anti-ship variety (70 countries currently have these weapons), a growing number of nations can use readily available technology to adapt cruise missiles for land-attack, the study, Controlling the Spread of Land-Attack Cruise Missile, states.
