SPENCER - The weather on New Year's Day was nearly perfect for a dip in the 40-degree water of Boston Harbor. Just ask Spencer native Meghan F. Sullivan.
"It's too bad it was pouring rain," she said yesterday about her start-of-the-year plunge. "I felt bad for the spectators. They were soaked."
Ms. Sullivan, 23, had heard stories about how ice can stick painfully to a wet, bare foot and how the water temperature can be unbearable, but still she decided that she would join Joey's Polar Plunge to help raise money to send seriously ill children from Massachusetts to Camp Sunshine in Maine.
