BARRE - Perhaps Holly was just waiting to be rescued.
Police Chief Erik Demetropoulos said the dog with a leg-hold trap on its left front leg - the object of an intensive search since Dec. 16 - offered no resistance, not so much as a bark or a growl, when he and Fire Chief Joseph R. Rogowski removed it yesterday morning from the garage of a home at 176 Summer St.
The dog, a young black-and-brown brindled female pit bull-shepherd mix with a white muzzle, was taken to the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton, according to Laura DiMare, animal control officer, who has been spearheading the ...
