Turkey supplier Bernard Matthews has reported a 40% drop in sales since its farm revealed it was at the centre of a bird flu outbreak in the UK at the beginning of February. The firm's eponymous owner, Bernard Matthews, has said he is sorry for the H5N1 bird flu scare but insists it is not his company's fault. There has been intense media speculation about whether the disease could have been imported with birds from Hungary.
