BOSTON - Legislation that would impose higher energy efficiency standards on new homes and commercial and public buildings, adding about 3 percent to the cost of construction, is among a series of energy bills pending as state lawmakers prepare to tackle the impact of high energy costs this year.
The "Green Buildings" act, filed by Sen. Harriette L. Chandler, D-Worcester, and Steven C. Panagiotakos, D-Lowell, would impose International Energy Conservation Code standards for new buildings and rehabilitation projects in the state.
