We see them as ever-graceful masters of the ice. But underneath the smiles, the sequins and the showmanship, after the bows are taken and the arena empties for the night, championship skaters are not so different from the people they perform for.
OK. They're a lot trimmer and much more toned, not to mention coordinated, but otherwise their goals and dreams are a lot like those the rest of us hold dear. The 21st season of Smucker's Stars on Ice, which visits the DCU Center in Worcester Feb. 24 for a 7:30 p.m. performance, takes a look at skaters' lives when they don't have their skates on.
