WORCESTER - Bentley, the second-ranked team in the Division 2 coaches' poll, finished a remarkable undefeated regular season with a hard-fought, 82-71 victory over Assumption College last night at Laska Gym.
Bentley finished 26-0 with a 22-0 record in the Northeast-10 Conference. Defending national champion Winona State (Minn.) is the only team ranked ahead of Bentley.
"It's awesome, but now it's done," Bentley coach Jay Lawson said about his team's regular-season performance. "I think after the season we'll be able to take a look at what we have accomplished, but we're going to put closure to this now and move forward ...
