Dan Stump of Westboro can dish out a skillet full of chiles rellenos with the best of Southwest cooks.
Stump has been general manager of Canyon Cafe in Westboro for two years, and previously worked eight years at Canyon operations in San Antonio and Austin, Texas.
He grew up in Pennsylvania, graduated from Penn State, and planned to be an elementary school teacher. That all changed when he moved to the Southwest, he said.
Texans take food and their state history pretty seriously. San Antonio cooks lean more toward Mexican food, while Austin is a melting pot for the Southwest, he said.
