WORCESTER - The Worcester Housing Authority promises a new crackdown on fraud, and is considering criminal charges against tenants who understate their income or violate their leases by housing additional family members.

Previously, violators of housing regulations faced only the loss of Housing Authority privileges.

"We know, at the least, we're going to pursue it (criminal charges), and at the minimum get them thrown out of public housing," said WHA executive director Raymond V. Mariano.
