Anchor tenants of South Coast Plaza, Orange County, CA's major shopping mall, rejected Bloomingdale's as a potential tenant. Apparently Bullocks' Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Broadway, Robinsons-May and Sears, Roebuck and Co. are afraid of the competition Bloomingdale's would bring to the shopping mall. Bloomingdale's would like to have a store in the South Coast Plaza but if that is not possible the retailer plans to move into smaller, less prominent location at Fashion Island. Fashion Island, is a open-center type mall located in Newport Beach, CA.
