Accounting firms in Southeast Michigan are on a hiring spree, buoyed in part by mergers and acquisitions and by a flurry of investments by private-equity firms who need due diligence before they do their deals and tax advice afterward.
Nine of the 10 largest area firms said they are expanding this year. Most of that is accountants with some addition of support staff. Only the Detroit office of Ernst & Young L.L.P. expects employee totals to remain flat.
