ALBANY - It was fiddles with a feminine touch Saturday night at The Egg, as the all-women, old-timey country band Uncle Earl shared the stage with opening act Carrie Rodriguez.
Making the second annual appearance at The Egg, Uncle Earl stepped into the spotlight with a whole new batch of tunes, thanks to the group's new CD, "Waterloo, Tennessee" on Rounder Records, which lands in stores today. The g'Earls (as they like to call themselves) certainly weren't shy about strutting their new material, either. Out of the first dozen or so songs they performed, all but one or two were brand-spankin'-new.
