Madrigal: 1. a medieval short lyrical poem in a strict poetic form. 2. a complex polyphonic unaccompanied vocal piece on a secular text developed in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Madrigaia: 1. an award winning, multi-lingual vocal ensemble from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. 2: Annick Bremault, Sarah Dugas, Ariane Jean, Marie-Claude McDonald, Dominique Reynolds, Brigitte Sabourin, and Andrina Turenne.
In the spring of 1999, seven young Franco-Manitoban women combined their extremely diverse and finely tuned talents in pursuit of a dream. Eight years and two CDs later, dreams became reality.
