Tanzania's wealth of tourist attractions have remained largely untapped, and yet they make neighbouring countries pale in comparison. According to Mbarouk Mwandoro, Director General of the Board of External Trade, some neighbours have gone to the extent of promoting tourist attractions which are geographically located in Tanzania to attract more tourists to their own countries.
