As I write this, Congress' adjournment for the calendar year is scheduled for Oct. 10, and this being an election year, the odds are that Congress will adjourn on time.
As you know, S.540--the Bankruptcy Reform bill--was referred to the House Judiciary Committee last spring. The bill has not been subject to any hearings by the committee and most members of the committee are still saying that they will pass a skeletal bill out of the House and do the real work in conference committee. The agenda of the House Judiciary Committee has been filled with numerous other issues which are more topical in an election year, such as the crime bill and telecommunications reform, ...
