PARIS - Bazar de l'Hotel de Ville, the department store here best known for its hardware and home-decoration departments, hopes guys who buy power saws and screws also will open their wallets for shoes, shirts and ties.
BHV last week inaugurated a five-level, 40,000-square-foot men's department store across the street from its larger main store, a stone's throw from city hall.
With brut concrete floors and ceilings that leave exposed the wiring and air ducts, the shop is designed to be as no-nonsense as a hardware store with easy-to-read displays, according to Christine Mondollot, BHV's general manager.
