Article: EDITORIAL: Continuous battle needed to ensure open government.

Mar. 16--It is Sunshine Week in America, but unfortunately the sun isn't shining all that brightly.

The week is set aside to promote open government, specifically the ability to freely access government records and to have information about government operations.

As part of Sunshine Week, the Associated Press surveyed all 50 states to determine their level of commitment to public records and open meetings. The good news is that all states have open government requirements written into their laws. The bad news is that there seems to be little commitment to the concept itself.
