Mar. 17--Department of Cultural Affairs Secretary Stuart Ashman said Friday that he will secure a new appraisal of the Larry Frank collection of New Mexico devotional art. The Legislature appropriated $3 millionin the capital-outlay bill to buy the 263-piece collection. Ashman called the new appraisal a "prudent thing to do." The collection was appraised for the Frank Trust in 2005 at $4.8 million when it was negotiating to sell the collection to the Albuquerque Museum.
