WASHINGTON _ As the UN Security Council nears a vote this week on a new package of sanctions against Iran for refusing to suspend its uranium enrichment program, other developments are creating greater optimism among many opponents of Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
The Security Council appears more unified against Iran's ambitions, and some are encouraged that a deal with North Korea signals the Bush administration is taking a more flexible approach to international negotiations.
