Have you ever been in a big storm? Think about how you would describe that storm to people who weren't there. You might want to use similes and metaphors to get your point across. A simile compares two things using the word like or as. A metaphor compares two things without using like or as. Study the examples below, and then write simile or a metaphor next to each statement.
Examples:
Simile
The yard looked like a disaster area!
The clouds were as black as coal.
Metaphor
The thunderclaps were explosions.
