JUPITER, Fla. _ St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa expressed embarrassment and regret Thursday afternoon following his early-morning arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police found La Russa "slumped behind the wheel," just before midnight, his foot on the brake as his Ford Explorer idled, in gear, at an intersection minutes from the Cardinals training facility, according to police.
The SUV was partway through the intersection, forcing other vehicles to go around it as the traffic signal cycled.
