Mar. 22--A pre-concert talk by conductor John Schultz will set the scene for the first performance of "St. Matthew Passion" in Rochester by describing what it would have been like to sit in the pews at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Germany, in 1727 when Bach's masterpiece was probably first performed.
While separated by almost 300 years, the full two-and-a-half hours of music will be similar for both audiences.
