As parents of a 5-year-old with a severe peanut allergy, we wanted to commend Allegra Cullen and the Times Union for her article in the March 13 edition.
Our daughter, Sydney, was diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy last summer. We had suspected as much; she had a reaction to peanut butter on a cracker at the age of 2 1/2, so we kept it away from her. We had a round of "prick tests" and a blood test confirmed that her peanut allergy was much more severe than we thought.
We are very lucky, that Sydney's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Burns, at Coxsackie Elementary, has gone above and beyond in assuring that Sydney doesn't come into contact with any peanuts or ...
