After spending nearly $200,000 to care for 47 pit bulls seized after a June drug raid at a town of Dunn home, the Dane County Humane Society has agreed to pay $9,000 to the dogs' owners to settle a civil suit.
In exchange, the humane society gets ownership of the 41 surviving dogs -- more than half of which will be euthanized because they pose a significant threat to public safety, board president Cathy Holmes said Wednesday.
The Dane County district attorney's office also has asked a judge to dismiss dog-fighting charges against owners Robert Lowery and his wife, Julie Dzikowich, said ...
