Mar. 23--A bill introduced in the state House last week could end paddling in Alamance County's public schools. But since corporal punishment is used so sparingly, one school board member suggested it wouldn't make much of a difference. Rep. Martha Alexander, D-Charlotte, and a child advocacy group held a press conference last week announcing the bill to end corporal punishment. State Superintendent June Atkinson showed her support by attending.
