They can get director approval, script approval, co-star approval. In fact, about the only thing movie stars can't control is precisely when their movies come out.
Pity.
Because, as Eddie Murphy found out, it can be fatal as, just when Oscar voters are considering your suddenly serious performance in "Dreamgirls," the farcical "Norbit" waddles into theaters.
And, as Mark Wahlberg may discover, it can be self-defeating as, just when "The Departed" establishes you as a character actor, a slab of action beefcake like "Shooter" is released.
