victoria bartlett: You seem to catch what's in the air before so many of the other fashion designers do. How do you explain your perfect timing? Are you psychic?
marc jacobs: [laughs] I just do the things that I respond to. And maybe it's also the way that I work. I don't really start out thinking about what the theme of the collection is, but I wake up in a certain mood and follow that. Then when the models come in for fittings, some of them absorb that energy, add to it, and inspire what I do. Once something is designed, that doesn't mean it's done. It's always about the evolution of the whole process. And, as long as it comes through you, at some point it's yours. ...
