Mar. 27--The University of Toledo should provide more legal protection for transgenders against discrimination and harassment, a local minister said during a "Celebrate Diversity" rally yesterday at the university's Student Union. The Rev. Michelle Stecker, the partner of Carol Bresnahan, vice provost for academic programs at UT, made her comments as the closing speaker at the rally, which was attended earlier by university President Dr. Lloyd Jacobs. Ms. Stecker said some 80 colleges and universities, including Ohio State and the University of Michigan, have adopted such measures to protect transgender students.
