Today's focus on quality, along with a generally improving economy, are among factors fueling growth this year in sales of assembly machines and systems. And prognosticators expect the trend to continue.
Advanced Technology Advisors (Cleveland, OH), a market research firm, projects that U.S. sales of assembly automation equipment will grow at a 10% compound annual rate over the next five years. U.S. revenues from assembly systems and components totaled around $1 billion last year, and will rise to around $1.5 billion in 1998, says Richard Bloss, Advanced Technology project director.
