Mar. 29--Ever since "Nocturne" introduced Adam Rapp to the New York theater in 2001, it was obvious that this fresh and muscular voice had no fear of psychological brutality. And right on through "Red Light Winter," a Pulitzer Prize finalist last year, his dark and articulate work has given off an urgency. The author's galloping need to write has resulted in -- what's today's count? -- 11 produced plays, seven novels and two screenplays he directed himself.
We've always known that Rapp, 38, has an interesting mind, a restless curiosity and, at times, a veneer of "too cool for you" rawness that makes his work easier to admire than to ...
