Mar. 29--47 Boeing 737s needed sooner than anticipated American Airlines will accelerate deliveries of 47 Boeing 737-800 aircraft as it begins replacing its fleet of 300 fuel-guzzling Boeing MD-80s in two years, company executives said Wednesday. American executives have notified Chicago-based Boeing Co. of their intention to move up deliveries of three 737-800s to 2009. The three aircraft were scheduled for delivery in 2016 under a previously negotiated purchase commitment, officials said.
