Mar. 29--Ceramic works with intricate, geometrical designs and earth-tone colors are among the works lining exhibit space in the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. To some visitors, the pieces might look like they were created for display -- but they weren't. The jars, jewelry, tools and weapons are still used by indigenous people in Ecuador and Peru.
"This is art in its purest form," museum director Mary Bryan Hood said. More than 120 utilitarian and ceremonial objects from Ecuador and Peru will be displayed at the museum in an exhibit called "Tribal Art of the Amazon." A preview party is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the museum. ...
