WHISTLER, B.C. -- Etanercept not only improves the clinical symptoms of psoriasis, its use may reduce the depressive symptoms that are common in psoriasis patients, according to data from two posters presented at a dermatology symposium.
Both studies were funded by Immunex Corp., a subsidiary of Amgen Inc., and by Wyeth Research to assess the improvement in depressive symptoms in psoriasis patients being treated with etanercept.
Improvements in depressive symptoms and fatigue lasted up to 96 weeks in patients with moderate to severe psoriasis who were treated with etanercept, reported Dr. Craig Leonardi, a dermatologist at St. Louis University. Dr. ...
