"What we like to think of as Iraq's future," Army Staff Sergeant Jack Lewis cynically writes of the young man's death. Lewis' account, entitled "Roadwork," is one 11 by soldiers on the horrors of war and its wrenching emotional and moral complexities in "Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience."
