GLENVILLE - The state Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing will prepare for missions in Afghanistan with test flights over Schenectady County for the next couple of months, military leaders announced Thursday.
The Air Force requested members of the Glenville-based 109th Airlift Wing and some of its C-130 Hercules aircraft for combat airlift duties in "southwest Asia," unit commander Col. Anthony German said during a news conference at the Stratton Air National Guard Base.
"They are all set to do what their country has called them to do," German said.
