Mar. 31--The final score resembled a football game total, but both the Parkland and Allen girls softball teams found the positives as plentiful as the runs Friday night at Pates Park in the Lehigh Valley Conference season opener for both. The Trojans, playing their first game of the season, won 13-7 and showed signs of being a force again on the local scholastic softball scene. But, while falling to 1-1, the Chicks showed signs of having enough feistiness to agitate plenty of foes this spring. Parkland built a 9-0 lead after 31/2 innings and seemed certain to send the crowd home early via the 10-run rule.
