Mar. 31--COLUMBUS -- Jim Hellbusch had filled his company's final welding position days ago.

It is a unique situation, Hellbusch said, because this is probably the first time in five years he isn't looking to hire a welder for Duo Lift.

Hellbusch, like many involved in manufacturing, seems to be constantly searching for workers to fill positions that involve technical skills.

Because Columbus is such an industry-heavy town, those businesses are feeling the hit. But organizers of events, such as the Career Night Thursday at Central Community College-Columbus, hope that tide will turn.
