A few weeks ago Newsweek magazine ran a story under the headline, "Why TV is Better than the Movies." The conclusion, shared by many in the business, is that TV has undergone a renaissance in recent years, a new golden age marked by programs with movie-quality production values and story arcs and characters rivaling anything you'll see in a movie theater. James Bond may have been reborn in "Casino Royale," but when you really boil it down, is he saving the world with any more flair than Jack Bauer in "24"?
