Apr. 1--Human drugs likely to poison pets:
1. Acetaminophen (Tylenol and many others) -- A major threat to cats. Acetaminophen is broken down by enzymes in the liver, and cats don't have enough in their bodies to do the job. Two extra-strength tablets can kill a cat, and lesser amounts can cause signs of poisoning.
Small dogs can also suffer tissue damage from as few as two regular-strength acetaminophen tablets. Symptoms of poisoning are listlessness, trouble breathing, vomiting, diarrhea and dark-colored urine.
