Born in Bogota in 1951, Pedro Sorela currently lives in Spain, where he teaches writing at the Universidad de Madrid while working as a journalist for El Paris. In addition to Aire de mar en Gador, Sorela is the author of the critical study El otro Garcia Marquez: Los anos dificiles and a second novel, Huellas del actor en peligro.
