An October Visa USA-sponsored telephone survey of 1,007 credit and debit cardholders released today shows that only 17% of consumers know their FICO score by the time they are 21 years old. And 36% of Visa cardholders did not know their credit score by the time they were 40 years old. The figures are "frankly disheartening," Jason Alderman, director of Visa's financial education program, tells CardLine, noting that the figures are probably inflated since "debit and credit cardholders are probably more informed than those without cards."
