Apr. 4--A handful of Hickman High School students wised up yesterday to sources of information about global warming.
Jan Weaver, the director of environmental studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia, spent about an hour with Hickman's biology club, telling them how corporations can use faulty data and their own scientists to undermine scientific theories about the earth's warming trends.
She also told students that industries sometimes set up front organizations using the word "environmental" in the title to make it appear as though they care about the environment to "confuse the issue in the public's mind."
