Apr. 4--Morgantown City Council approved on first reading Tuesday an ordinance to raise stormwater rates to help pay for Morgantown Utility Board's Poponoe Run/Burroughs Run project.
MUB asked last week that its flat fee for residential dwellings be increased from $3.63 a month per month to $5.30 per month, an increase of $1.67 or 31.5 percent.
The utility also has asked for an increase on charges paid based on the square footage of impervious areas, generally roofs and/or parking surfaces of commercial properties and businesses.
