Apr. 7--Spokane County officials are interested in buying Spokane Raceway Park -- a nearly square-mile chunk of largely undeveloped, privately owned land inside the city limits of Airway Heights, it was confirmed Friday. The county is looking at the West Plains site as a possible location for a new correctional facility and other related public uses, perhaps including a motor sports complex, various sources told The Spokesman-Review. The property includes an operating gravel pit.
