EAST BROOKFIELD - Sometime during 2001, as Worcester's Cedric G. Ball was about to sign the highest paying contract of his basketball career, he realized that shooting hoops was beginning to feel too much like a job.
The former NBA player passed on the International Basketball Federation contract, left the basketball court behind and made his way back home to Massachusetts. Now he spends his time in a different court: Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield, where he works as an associate in the Probation Department.
